WELCOME AND NOTICES

GATHERING:
For most of us, life is a process of living out certain roles:
Student – parent – teacher – employee – boss.
But God calls we men and women, young and old,
to come out from behind roles and masks,
to live genuine lives of response to the challenges life presents;
to meet life head on and dare to be real people,
people of faith – lived – out.

HYMN: Tell Out, My Soul
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
Unnumbered blessings, give my spirit voice;
tender to me the promise of his word;
in God my Saviour shall my heart rejoice.

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his Name!
Make known his might, the deeds his arm has done;
His mercy sure, from age to age the same;
His holy Name – the Lord, the Mighty One.

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his might!
Powers and dominions lay their glory by.
Proud hearts and stubborn wills are put to flight,
The hungry fed, the humble lifted high.

Tell out, my soul, the glories of his word!
Firm is his promise, and his mercy sure.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord
to children’s children and for evermore! © Timothy Dudley-Smith (WOV)

TIME WITH THE CHILDREN
SONG: Hello Everybody!
Hello everybody! How do you do? How do you do? How do you do?
Hello everybody! How do you do? God loves you today.

If your name is — clap now,
If your name is — clap now.
If your name is — clap now,
If your name is — clap now.
Hello everybody! …

If you have red on, clap now,
If you have blue on, clap now.
If you have green on, clap now,
If you have yellow on, clap now.
Hello everybody! …

If you like spaghetti, clap now,
If you like swimming, clap now.
If you like rainbows, clap now,
If you like biking, clap now.
Hello everybody! …

FAITH AND LIFE ~ with David Beaumont

HYMN: Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness
Spirit, Spirit of gentleness,
blow through the wilderness
calling and free.
Spirit, Spirit of restlessness,
stir me from placidness,
wind, wind on the sea.
You moved on the waters,
you called to the deep,
then you coaxed up the mountains
from the valleys of sleep;
and over the ages you called to each thing,
wake from your slumbers
and rise on your wings.

You swept through the desert,
you stung with the sand,
and you goaded your people
with a law and a land;
and when they were blinded
with their idols and lies,
then you spoke through your prophets
to open their eyes.

You sang in a stable,
you cried from a hill,
then you whispered in silence
when the whole world was still;
and down in the city
you called once again,
when you blew through your people
in the rush of the wind.

You call from tomorrow,
you break ancient schemes.
From the bondage of sorrow
the captives dream dreams;
our women see visions,
our men clear their eyes
with bold new decisions
your people arise. © Jim Manley (NJS)

THE OFFERING
Gracious and giving God, in this act of worship
we have brought gifts of money and food.
These are the tangible, touchable, countable tokens of our faith
and commitment.
We ask your blessing on them, and upon us,
that we your church may use them wisely and well,
in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

WE GREET ONE ANOTHER

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

HYMN: Make Me a Channel of Your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace:
where there is hatred let me bring your love,
where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
and where there’s doubt, true faith in you:
O Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love with all my soul!

Make me a channel of your peace:
where there’s despair in life let me bring hope,
where there is darkness, only light,
and where there’s sadness, ever joy:
O Master, grant that I may never seek…

Make me a channel of your peace:
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
in giving of ourselves that we receive,
and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
