CALL TO WORSHIP (Matthew 11.28-33 ~ The Message) From the back

HYMN: Sing Your Praise to God Eternal(Tune: Hyfrydol WOV148 ii )
Sing your praise to God eternal, sing your praise to God the Son,
sing your praise to God the Spirit, living and forever One.
God has made us, God has blessed us, God has called us to be true.
God rules over all creation, daily making all things new.

Join the praise of every creature, sing with singing birds at dawn;
when the stars shine forth at nightfall, hear their heavenly antiphon.
Praise God for the light of summer, autumn glories, winter snows,
for the coming of the springtime and the life of all that grows.

Praise God on our days of gladness for the summons to rejoice;
praise God in our times of sadness for the calm, consoling voice.
God our Maker, strong and loving, Christ our Saviour, Leader, Lord,
living God, Creator Spirit, be your holy name adored!

OPENING PRAYERS & THE LORD’S PRAYER

WELCOME AND NOTICES

TIME WITH THE CHILDREN

CHILDREN’S SONG: Jesus Loves Me
Jesus loves me, this I know,
and the Bible tells me so;
little ones to him belong,
in his love we shall be strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me,
yes, Jesus loves me,
yes, Jesus loves me,
the Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me, this I know,
as he loved so long ago,
taking children on his knee,
saying, ‘Let them come to me.’

Jesus loves me this I know
though my hair is white as snow
though my sight is growing dim
still he bids me trust in him.

Though my steps are oh so slow
with my hand in his I’ll go
on through life come what may
He’ll be there to lead the way.

Jesus loves me still today,
walking with me on my way,
wanting as a friend to give
light and love to all who live. (author unknown)

SERMON

A TIME OF QUIET

THE OFFERING
Generous and giving God, we give thanks for the many blessings and answered prayers we have received, and we respond with humble gratitude. As we reach out beyond ourselves, may what we have to share be blessings and answered prayer for someone else.
In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

INVITATION TO COMMUNION & THE PEACE

COMMUNION HYMN (Tune: )
O changeless Christ, for ever new,
who walked our earthly ways,
still draw our hearts as once you drew
the hearts of other days.

As once you spoke by plain and hill
or taught by shore and sea,
so be today our teacher still,
O Christ of Galilee.

As wind and storm their master heard
and his command fulfilled,
may troubled hearts receive your word,
the tempest-tossed be stilled.

And as of old to all who prayed
your healing hand was shown,
so be your touch upon us laid,
unseen but not unknown.

In broken bread, in wine outpoured,
your new and living way
proclaim to us, O risen Lord, O Christ of this our day. © Hope Publishing (VU)

A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
May the Spirit of Christ be with you,
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift our hearts to God.
Let us give thanks to God who is Wisdom and Love.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
God of light… join our voices in praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord. God of power and might.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of our God.
Hosanna in the highest….

COMMUNION
Communion this morning will be served Anglican style,
from two stations.
You are invited to come in a continuous line
to receive the bread and wine.
Starting with the two main blocks, please come via the side aisles
returning to your seat via the centre aisle. Then the outer sections.
Please don’t feel rushed. Take the time you need.
We will come to people who need to be served where they are.

PRAYER FOLLOWING COMMUNION
Life-giving God,
we give you thanks for the gift of our Saviour’s presence
in the simplicity and splendour of this holy meal.
Unite us with all who are fed by the life of Christ
that we may faithfully proclaim the Good News of your love
and that your church may be a rainbow of hope
in an uncertain world; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen

HYMN: Sent Forth by God’s Blessing
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
the people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The supper is ended, O now be extended
the fruits of this service in all who believe.
The seed of Christ’s teaching, receptive souls reaching,
shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, God’s love shall unite us
to work for the kingdom and answer its call.

With praise and thanksgiving to God ever living,
the tasks of our everyday life we will face.
Our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring,
embracing God’s children of each tribe and race.
With your feast you feed us, with your light now lead us;
unite us one in this life that we share.
Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving
give honour to Christ and the name that we bear.
