CALL TO WORSHIP – from the rear of the church
Let us see the glow of the sunrise as a sign:
Christ’s hopeful light, ending the darkness.
Let us see the beam from a lighthouse as a sign:
Christ’s light of security in a fast changing world.
Let us see the clear guide from a flashlight as a sign:
Christ’s revealing light, exposing the ways of self absorption
and greed.
Let us see the gentle light of a candle as a sign:
and worship God in Christ, the Light of the World for his time,
for our time, and all time beyond.
HYMN: Sing Your Praise to God Eternal (Tune: Hyfrydol WOV 148 ii)
Sing your praise to God eternal, sing your praise to God the Son,
sing your praise to God the Spirit, living and forever One.
God has made us, God has blessed us, God has called us to be true.
God rules over all creation, daily making all things new.
Join the praise of every creature, sing with singing birds at dawn;
when the stars shine forth at nightfall, hear their heavenly antiphon.
Praise God for the light of summer, autumn glories, winter snows,
for the coming of the springtime and the life of all that grows.
Praise God on our days of gladness for the summons to rejoice;
praise God in our times of sadness for the calm, consoling voice.
God our Maker, strong and loving, Christ our Saviour, Leader, Lord,
living God, Creator Spirit, be your holy name adored!

OPENING PRAYERS AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
TIME WITH THE CHILDREN ~ Alice Shanks
SONG: The Church is Wherever God’s People are Praising
The Church is wherever God’s people are praising,
singing God’s goodness for joy on this day.
The Church is wherever disciples of Jesus
remember his story and walk in his way.
The Church is wherever God’s people are helping
caring for neighbours in sickness and need.
The Church is wherever God’s people are sharing
the words of the Bible in gift and in deed. © W. Jenkins

INTRODUCTION TO THE READINGS
READINGS: Micah 6: 1-8 Wayne Barton
Matthew 5: 1-12 from The Message June Service
SERMON: Is there a “secret to happiness?
A TIME OF QUIET
THE OFFERING:
Our gifts are blessed through your Spirit, O God.
They find sadness and bring comfort;
they find despair and bring hope;
they find people caught in a rut and bring freedom;
they find talent and uncover it for all to see;
they find seeking hearts and bring fresh insights;
the same way Jesus did!
Bless not only these gifts, but us, as we commit ourselves
to live your life in the world. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
INVITATION TO COMMUNION & THE PEACE
HYMN: I Come With Joy a Child of God (Tune: Kilmarnock WOV 452)
I come with joy, a child of God,
forgiven, loved, and free,
the life of Jesus to recall,
in love laid down for me.
I come with Christians far and near
to find, as all are fed,
the new community of love
in Christ’s communion bread.
The Spirit of the risen Christ,
unseen, but ever near,
is in such friendship better known,
alive among us here.
Together met, together bound,
by all that God has done,
we’ll go with joy, to give the world
the love that makes us one. ? Stainer & Bell (CH 4)
GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
God be with you. And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to God.
Let us give God thanks and praise.
United in his love, we give God thanks and praise.
God’s light shines … Jesus’ light shines still among us.
On Good Friday he died.
At Easter he rose again.
Today he lives forever.
COMMUNION
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION:
HYMN: Make Me a Channel of Your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace:
where there is hatred let me bring your love,
where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
and where there’s doubt, true faith in you:
O Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love with all my soul!
Make me a channel of your peace:
where there’s despair in life let me bring hope,
where there is darkness, only light,
and where there’s sadness, ever joy:
Make me a channel of your peace:
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
in giving of ourselves that we receive,
and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
